How Can We Help You?

Advanced Machine & Engineering’s apprenticeship program is advanced. We understand that true craftsman are not made in the classroom. They learn by doing. They learn by making. They learn by building. And for that reason, we build our own workforce and train them ourselves. AME Apprentices work side-by-side with industry veterans to learn practical machining skills in our factory. Apprentices also attend weekly classes outside the shop to learn the latest in manufacturing technology.

AME's advanced apprenticeship program is a four year federally administered program administered through the Rock Valley Tooling & Machining Association (RRVTMA). Participating students are required to complete 8,000 hours of manufacturing training in parallel of schooling at Rock Valley College. AME is closing the skills gap in manufacturing with on-site, paid training. Get the skills required for a successful career which includes health benefits, 401K, and paid vacation.

Students learn various skills associated with the trade including:

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Programming
  • Materials Sciences
  • Feeds and Speeds
  • Milling, Drilling, and Turning Processes

They take classes every semester at Rock Valley College, which include:

  • Mathematics for Machine Technology I
  • Blueprint Interpretation
  • Metal Cutting Applications
  • Metrology
  • CNC/CAM Operations
  • Introduction to Welding
