Pneumatic Rod Locks Integrated with Cylinders

The new Series CCA Advanced Locking Cylinders® with Integral AMLOK® Rod Clamp guarantee a long service life, even under severe operating conditions, due to the patented oversized intensifier.

The AMLOK Power-Off Rod Clamp has been developed to control over travel, drifting, bouncing and reverse traveling. The high locking force will hold the rod in any mid-stroke position. Clamping is accomplished through spring force and released by air pressure. Loss of air pressure will cause the unit to lock so drifting is not possible. Holding force depends upon the rod and piston diameter. The AMLOK Rod Clamp is offered as an integral unit with the Advanced Cylinder Series CCA, or can be added as a separate unit to any NFPA-MF1 style cylinder.

New AMsaw 100 Automatic Sawing System

The AMsaw 100 high-performance, automatic sawing system offers extremely fast and economical cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous material. It is designed with operator friendly controls and failure diagnostics. The standard model includes automatic bar loader and diverter chute to separate trim cut and tail ends. It cuts bars to length as programmed on an LCD panel.

The AMsaw 100 offers high cutting rates up to 150 square inches per minute with high accuracy +/- .002 inches. Cermet or carbide tipped blades extends tool life. The thin body blades produce a minimum material loss of only .090 inch. Durable, heavy-duty construction and a 15 Hp spindle drive motor powers a 14-inch diameter saw blade that can cut stock size up to 4.0 inches. No coolant is required with this dry cutting method. The AMsaw 100 is economical, costing as low as $0.0017 per square inch.

An available option will automatically correct cut length in case of bar size variations and weigh parts, if so required. The AMsaw 100 can be designed and built to customer's specific requirements. The AMsaw line covers a material cross section ranging from .75 inch to 24.0 inches.

July 2004
Sense and Monitor Power Drawbar Position and Cycles

The OTT/JAKOB Position Monitoring System with Electronic Analog Sensor allows you to monitor your drawbar for performance and wear. An electronic analog sensor detects the position and an electronic unit attached to the machine controller, transmits the data. This system indicates whether your tools are clamped, unclamped or not present. It can increase tool head accuracy and longevity by monitoring cycles and hours, indicating whether your tools are properly held. Because these units transmit information quickly to the controls, mechanical signal rings with inductive sensors are now obsolete. Negative influences of the signal rings with inductive sensors are now obsolete. Negative influences of the signal rings at higher RPM can be avoided.

Components of the monitoring system include sensor, sensor electronics and position controller. The OTT/JAKOB unclamp unit contains a cylindrical, inductive analog sensor consisting of a primary and secondary coil. During clamping or unclamping, as the drawbar connection moves axially through the analog sensor, the target ring on the drawbar connection triggers the output signal. The signal increases the further the target ring enters the sensor, indicating the position. The position is also monitored during the milling process. The sensor electronics supply the primary coil with constant frequency and amplitude. A demodulator transforms the signal of the secondary coil into a stable DC output signal. The position controller evaluates the current signal and sets the output signals at the adjustable limits. A digital filter compensates existing peak values. The position controller is equipped with a meter for operating hours and operating cycles.

May 2004
