Overview

Power-off Workholding

AMFORCE® is designed to apply constant (pull) clamping force in applications for fixtures, tools, pallets and workpieces. Hydraulic pressure is used to unclamp the workpiece, but is not required to maintain the clamping force on the workpiece.

High quality, heavy duty disk springs are used to produce the clamping force. The applied clamping force is determined by how far the rod is extended when it contacts the workpiece. This force will vary due to workpiece variations.

 

Note that in order to load and unload the workpiece, the rod must be extended further than the effective clamping position. AMFORCE Power-off Fixture Clamps are offered in 3 types (top, bottom and cartridge), which are available with 5 standard clamping forces (500, 1K, 2K, 3K and 4K lbs of force).

The clamps are actuated by a column of disk springs which generate a high pull force on the clamp arms. The force is released by hydraulic pressure. Hydraulic failure will therefore have no effect on the workholding capability and power-off clamping is guaranteed.
