It's always special when the best of the best come together. Whether it's football, basketball, or baseball, fans flock to stadiums to see the elite in action. Each All-Star contributes their special skillsets to the common cause, raising the level of performance for the team as a whole.
Imagine if you took this concept and applied it to manufacturing. What would happen if the best came together to solve problems and explore new productivity ideas for machinists and manufacturers? Well, there's no need to speculate, because such a squad already exists.
Partners in THINC
Okuma America Corporation, a world leader in CNC machine tools, created Partners in THINC in 2008. The idea was to bring together a group of select vendors to provide innovative solutions that make manufacturers more productive and profitable. Today, it is a collaborative network of over 40 companies that service the metal cutting and manufacturing industries. AME and sister company Hennig joined the group in 2021.
AME Contribution
What do we bring to the table? In short, we make Partners in THINC even stronger with workholding and automation expertise.
Our products and services that enhance machining processes include part-holding tombstones, workholding fixtures, tool clamping, and many more. Working with Okuma, we can provide integrated solutions that are thoughtfully tailored to their individual machines.
Some specific examples:
Turnkey Workholding Packages
When it comes to machining, your setup is only as rigid as the weakest link. Our AMROK® tombstones and grid plates complement Okuma machines by providing a precision foundation for quality milling. We can also build modular workholding systems built off of the AMROK foundation. We do this by using the best components from our own team of outstanding manufacturers, including Schunk, 5th Axis, Triag, Mitee-Bite, and Vektek. Of course, we can also use our own made-in-the-USA collection of fixturing components.
We also improve the machining processes of any CNC model with dedicated or modular manual fixtures, or a fully automated hydraulic or pneumatic workholding system built from the ground up. AME experts can design and build the perfect turnkey solution to meet any shop’s needs.
Factory Automation
In tandem with our partners at Trinity Automation, AME provides automated pallet systems that are integrated and serviced in a joint effort. With a comprehensive line of both front- and side-load options and a capacity of up to 40 pallets, AME has the products and the know-how to make lights out operations a breeze.
We can also integrate CNC machine tending that pushes the limits on high production part-loading. Each system provides superior spindle utilization with a wide range of payload capacities and the ability to handle differing workpieces.
Hennig Contribution
In collaboration with our sister company, we help to fill even more manufacturing needs, including chip management and coolant filtration offerings that integrate seamlessly with the Okuma control. Tailored machine tool protection systems are another choice, such as enclosures and roof bellows for Okuma’s MCR Series and MVF Series of double column machines. And of course, Hennig way covers can be customized to fit any Okuma machine tool.
Working together, AME and Hennig can act as single source to develop complete solution packages for Okuma customers, from solid workholding setups to automation to chip management.
Strength in Numbers
Partners in THINC leverages the skills, knowledge, and experience of all its members. Needless to say, we are proud to be part of this amazing all-star team. It's this type of collaboration that makes it easy to get up in the morning to design and build things that help customers grow.
