By: Meaghan Ziemba, Content Marketing Manager, AME

With the buzz of the New Year settling down, Advanced Machine & Engineering (AME) is excited to kick off 2018. While we have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming year, we have a lot of great memories from 2017 that we’d like to share with all of you. Here are our top 6:

6. Rockford Chamber of Commerce Membership

AME understands the importance of investing in the Rockford community to help bring more jobs to the local residents. That is why we decided to join the Rockford Chamber of Commerce at the end of 2017.

“We are excited to be actively involved with the Rockford Chamber of Commerce to promote the growth of business in the community,” says Dietmar Goellner, AME President and CEO.

5. AME Stars on Innovation TV with Ed Begley

AME and its sister company, Hennig, starred on Innovation TV with Ed Begley, Jr., to showcase their innovative processes that have helped us stay ahead of the manufacturing curve. You can check out our episode as feature on Fox Business.

4. Apprenticeship Program Decreases Manufacturing Skills Gap

Here at AME, we are strong believers in training your own. To help provide a solution for the manufacturing skills gap, our apprenticeship program provides the necessary training needed to be a successful machinist.

The apprenticeship program started over 15 years ago with AME Chairman and Founder, Willy Goellner. “When I came over here [from Germany], I found out that the training was very weak when it comes to apprentice training.” In the last eight years, the program has really taken off, offering 5 different tracks that include CNC lathe operators, CNC mill operators, CNC grinders, and assemblers and machine builders.

3. Education Content Platforms

We also have created several educational platforms that include content that teach our readers about machine tool components and cutting tool solutions. Readers can gain knowledge on tools, tips, and tactics for high production metal sawing and tooling.

Willy Goellner, Chairman and Founder of AME, shared his story of courage, strength, and determination in his recently released autobiography “Against All Odds: From There to Here.”

Willy was encouraged by his wife, Irmgard, his daughter, Marika, and other family members to record his life story so that future generations would continue to be inspired by his life’s work.

1. AME Breaks Ground for New Facility Expansion

Just before the New Year, we broke ground for its new, $3.5 million facility expansion. The expansion is projected to be completed by June 2018, and will help increase our top line revenue and overall profitability.

The expansion will also bring up to 100 more manufacturing jobs to the stateline area.
